The Tangent Flight Computer Simulator
The FLT1 page
There are several pages with
flight information, but a most pilots will usually choose a
particular favorite. The unique aspect of the FLT1 page
is the temperature display.
Common to all flight displays are the following fields:
- Audio Mode (C+): It tells the pilot that the audio
is in Climb or Glide mode. The + means to
speed up, the - means to slow down. In Glide
mode there are seperate tones associated with + and
-.
- Next Expected Climb (Nxt 100): Also known as the "speed
ring" or "McCready ring" setting. Units are in the currently
selected rate of climb units
- Instantaneous Climb (432fpm): Digital rate of climb.
- Altitude (532ft)
- Airspeed (28mph)
Normally pilots fly in Autoswitch mode, which will
automatically switch from Climb to Glide mode
(and visa versa). However you may switch manually at any
time. Click the key. You will see the C change to a G.
You don't need to have the cursor on this field to switch back
and forth. The key works no matter where you are. (It
will only work here in this demo.)
Since the cursor is on the title field (FLT1), clicking the
plus minus keys will change pages. The arrow keys will move
the cursor on the page
